Short Biography

As a trauma and addiction recovery specialist at Abbington House, my focus is on helping people reclaim their lives by addressing the trauma that often underpins addiction. Through Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), I work with clients to heal deep-rooted pain and develop new coping skills to navigate life without relying on substances. Trauma doesn’t define a person, and by peeling back the layers of trauma, I help clients find their path to recovery.

I believe in a holistic approach, addressing not just the addiction but the entire person—mind, body, and spirit. Group therapy is a vital part of this journey, allowing clients to share their experiences, realise they are not alone, and build a strong support system. I’m passionate about helping people through their struggles and empowering them to build lives beyond just surviving. I also work closely with families, helping them create healthy boundaries and a supportive environment for long-term recovery.

Specialisation

My role at Abbington House is to provide personalised trauma therapy to each individual, helping them address the root causes of their addiction. I specialise in trauma work using EMDR, which was originally developed for PTSD but is now applied to a wide range of mental health challenges, including phobias and eating disorders. I also deliver DBT, which helps clients develop emotional regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness—skills crucial for those struggling with addiction.

I believe that group therapy is powerful because it helps clients recognise that they are not alone in their struggles. Many come into therapy fearing group sessions, but they quickly realise the similarities they share with others. I encourage everyone to look for the similarities, not the differences, and find strength in shared experience.

At Abbington House, we work to address not only addiction but also the mental health challenges that often accompany it, like depression, social anxiety, OCD, and eating disorders. My job is to help clients gain emotional regulation and guide them towards recovery by addressing the full spectrum of their needs.
