Meet The Team

Treatment at Abbington House is led by a team that combines clinical training with more than 130 years of recovery between us. It means being supported by people who understand addiction professionally and personally.

What the team brings

A lot of addiction treatment talks about combining clinical expertise with lived experience. At Abbington House, that combination genuinely shapes how the team works day to day.

People who have been through addiction and recovery themselves often recognise things that aren’t always visible to those who haven’t been through it.

They notice the exhaustion of holding everything together. The way shame can sound like detachment.

The way someone minimises what’s happening because they’ve spent years trying to cope with it alone. Clinical training provides the structure, safety and therapeutic understanding needed to support someone properly. Lived experience brings a different kind of recognition and perspective.

Together, that means conversations tend to go beneath surface-level explanations quite quickly. It also means the team can sit with difficult and emotionally messy moments without flinching, because many of us have experienced versions of them ourselves.
