A comprehensive treatment programme is made up of three stages: detox, addiction therapy and aftercare. Not every addiction requires detox, but for many substance addictions, it is crucial. Every client will be provided with a consultation with our Psychiatrist. He will gather information on your medical, psychiatric and addiction history, before prescribing a medically assisted detox specific to your requirements.
Our specialist programme allows you to escape external pressures, giving you the time and space to examine the self-defeating behaviours that may lie behind your addiction. When attending an addiction recovery programme at Abbington House you can expect to receive a combination of therapies that will form your overall treatment programme. We also advocate and introduce you to the 12-Step programme. Alongside this, we have a range of holistic treatments and workshops, such as individual therapy, group therapy, meditation and drama therapy. Group sessions will help you to build trust and form a support network.
One of the greatest benefits of attending an inpatient programme at Abbington House is that our specialist therapists can walk you through the 12-step programme. Their expertise allows you to fully understand the programme and learn what each step entails.
At Abbington House we incorporate 12-step therapy alongside other treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), amongst others. To begin your 12-step journey, you will be introduced to the 12 Step fellowships whilst in treatment at Abbington House.
Having a family member or friend with a drug or alcohol problem is hard. You love them, but more often than not you are not sure what to do, or how best to support them. At Abbington House we understand these issues. We provide professional support and advice for friends and families because we know that it improves outcomes. We offer an 8-week family programme as part of our treatment schedule, providing family support and therapy for relatives or friends of clients who are in treatment with us.
One to one therapy offers personalised attention and care that helps you better understand and cope with your emotions, thoughts and behaviours. This type of therapy offers a safe, confidential space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings with a trained professional. In these sessions, the therapist’s primary goal is to help you gain insight into any concerns you may have. We provide help to develop effective coping strategies. There can be a variety of therapy types that take place in a one to one format, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), depending on the condition you’re struggling with.
All clients who complete treatment will have to access to free aftercare support for a year after leaving Abbington House. Our rehab aftercare programme incorporates free weekly group therapy sessions to renew their routine, ensure their coping mechanisms are still healthy and that they remain engaged in ongoing recovery focused activities, with guidance and support from others.
