Abbington Community Anniversary Event 2026

The Abbington Community marked two years on Saturday 23rd May. Former clients, families, and the team gathered at Abbington House to celebrate.

Michael Williams (Mikey) is the Treatment Manager at Abbington House and has been in recovery since 2011. He oversees the day-to-day delivery of care and brings lived experience into every part of the work.

For many people, recovery can feel uncertain once treatment ends. The community exists so people stay connected to each other, to the team, and to a place that still knows them. Two years in, the afternoon was a reminder of why that matters.

What two years have meant

Abbington House was founded by Greg Georghiou in 2023, and opened officially in 2024.

The aim then was the same as it is now: small numbers and a team that knows each person, treatment that adapts to the individual, and connection that continues after the residential stay ends.

The community has grown steadily over those two years. People who completed treatment in the first months still come back. Newer community members are part of it now too.

On the day, that really showed in the garden. People who had been through treatment here sat together again, a year or two or more on, and several stood up to share where recovery has taken them since. Those moments, more than anything planned, were what the afternoon was about.

RecoveryPath

At this year’s event, we launched our community network app with RecoveryPath, built to help people stay connected to Abbington after treatment ends.

RecoveryPath gives former clients access to upcoming events, ways to stay in touch with the team, and regular wellbeing check-ins that help the community team support those in the early stages of recovery. Thank you to everyone who came back, and to everyone who made the day what it was.
