Our community gathered at Abbington House for our February coffee morning, reflecting on the theme “the opposite of addiction is connection”, a reminder that recovery is strengthened through shared experience and understanding.
On the 19th of February, we welcomed our community back to Abbington House for our latest coffee morning.
The theme was simple: “The opposite of addiction is connection”.
It’s a phrase many people have heard before, but sitting in a room with people who have lived it gives it a different weight.

Recovery is sustained in community, in conversation and in shared understanding. In the small, ordinary moments that remind you you’re not the only one navigating change.
There was no formal agenda, just coffee, conversation and space to reconnect.
What stood out most was the ease in the room. Laughter, familiar faces and new bonds forming.
These mornings are a reminder that recovery doesn’t end when residential treatment finishes. It evolves, and staying connected to others really matters.
We’re grateful to everyone who came along and made the morning what it was, and we look forward to hosting the next event soon.
If you’re part of the Abbington Community and would like to attend future events, we’ll be sharing details of the next coffee morning soon.
