I hold weekly art therapy groups where clients have an opportunity to freely express themselves using different art mediums. We create vision boards, collages or paint what we feel in the moment. Whilst there is never any pressure to be creative, clients find that it happens naturally for them, and aids them in their recovery.
My journey with Reiki started when I went into treatment myself for addiction in 2017. I had a profound Reiki session with a compassionate practitioner who could see how much I had been carrying, and that I was ready to move forward. I held this session in my heart and took up training some years later in 2022. During the training I had a deep moment of synchronicity that linked back to my time in treatment which impressed upon me that I was on the right path, now offering Reiki to others and qualified to level of Reiki Master, so that I can teach others.
Reiki is a gentle, non-intrusive form of energy healing where I gently place my hands around and on a person, promoting relaxation and stress-relief. Reiki works by channelling universal life force energy to support the body’s natural healing processes, and reminds a person of the intelligence and wisdom they hold within.
I hold 1:1 sessions for our 28 day+ clients (in consultation with their assigned therapist) and clients have reported that it has aided their recovery, and is something they would carry on with outside of the clinic to support them in continuing to walk the path of sobriety. For some, Reiki has promoted a deeper connection to themselves and the world around them.
