For me, there is nothing more powerful than witnessing the light return to someone’s eyes. After nearly a decade in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction, I have come to realise that true fulfilment lies not in recognition and climbing the corporate ladder but in the quiet and meaningful work of listening deeply and walking alongside others on their path of healing and growth.
When Abbington House first opened, I chose to align my recovery journey with my professional life. After 16 years of working in the city, I made the life-changing decision to leave my career to begin a new chapter as a volunteer support worker.
Today, I’m proud to be a part of the dedicated team at Abbington House and am currently training to become a Gestalt therapist.
