If you’re a charity or community organisation and think someone you work with may benefit from a placement at Abbington House, we’d love to hear from you.
Everyone deserves the chance to recover, not just those who can afford private care. Here at Abbington House, giving back to the community isn’t just a nice idea for us, it’s something we actively prioritise.
Since opening our doors a year ago, we’ve already supported 22 clients through charity-funded placements at our clinic. Over the last 15 months, these places were offered at either no cost or with an 80% discount, representing a total treatment value of £326,000. Each person was given access to the full Abbington House experience: structured, specialist care in a safe and supportive environment, led by a team that genuinely understands what it takes to get well.
We don’t do this for recognition. In fact, we’ve chosen to keep our charitable efforts fairly quiet until now. But as the need for accessible addiction support continues to grow and as more people fall through the cracks of underfunded services, we believe it’s time to share what’s possible when private clinics choose to be part of the solution.
Why We Offer Charity Beds
Addiction doesn’t discriminate, and we’ve seen firsthand how quickly someone’s circumstances can change. Loss of income, family breakdown, poor mental health or trauma can all contribute to a spiral that’s difficult to escape from without help. But too often, those most in need face the biggest barriers to accessing treatment.
By offering charity-funded places, we’re able to respond to some of that unmet need and extend a hand to people who might otherwise have nowhere to turn. Whether it’s a young adult struggling to break free from alcohol dependence or a parent desperately trying to rebuild their life for the sake of their children, our charity placements are there for people who are ready for change but can’t afford the cost of private care.
Rooted in Community, Committed to Change
Abbington House was founded with community at its heart. Many of our team are in recovery themselves, and we’ve built a culture grounded in compassion, inclusion and integrity. For us, giving back isn’t just a marketing initiative, but a core part of who we are.
As we grow, so does our commitment to making recovery more accessible. We don’t believe private clinics should exist in isolation. We’re part of a wider ecosystem, and we have a responsibility to help strengthen it by supporting individuals and their families, as well as the other services working tirelessly to help those suffering from addiction.
We can’t solve every problem, but by continuing to offer charity beds and remaining open to partnerships with local organisations, we hope to be a small but meaningful part of a much bigger solution.
